Tow Company Insurance Program
Who We Insure
No two towing companies are exactly alike. You face different weather, different roads, and different vehicles to recover, from disabled tractor trailers and heavy-duty jobs to flatbed service and roadside assistance. That's why we're open to towing operations of all types and sizes, and anyone in the business of helping vehicles that are stranded on the side of the road. Whatever your operation looks like, you need solid coverage built around it: on-hook, auto liability, general liability, and garagekeepers. That's exactly why this program exists. We designed it with business owners like you in mind.
Everything in our program applies across each state we operate in, starting with New Jersey, Florida*, Connecticut, and Maryland at launch. New York is on the way pending state approval — check back here for updates as we get closer.
Our program is built around multistate businesses, giving us the flexibility to extend coverage into Pennsylvania when its part of your operation from other states we work within. If your operations include a service state alongside a Pennsylvania location, we can put separate policies in place to cover both – making Pennsylvania exposure part of the overall solution rather than a having your businesses insured with all different insurance companies.
Our Program: Complete Coverage, One Package
What makes OnHook Underwriters different is our all-in-one approach. Rather than piecing together coverage, we insure your entire operation under a single package. There are no gaps and no surprises when you need protection most. That package includes general liability, property, auto liability, garagekeepers, physical damage, inland marine, and our signature on-hook coverage. Here's what each one does for you:
General Liability — Covers slip-and-falls, trip-and-falls, and claims arising from work that wasn't completed properly at a repair shop, body shop, or roadside job.
Property — Protects the tools, equipment, and shop contents your mechanics rely on, plus the building itself if you own it.*
Auto Liability — Covers your tow trucks if they cause or are involved in an accident. Requirements vary by state, but this is the heart of what we do — it's the main call we're here to answer.
Garagekeepers — Protects your customers' vehicles while they're in your care. If a car is dropped off at your shop and gets stolen or damaged, this coverage steps in to make things right; so the cost doesn't come out of your pocket.
On-Hook — Covers your customers' vehicles while they're on the hook or flatbed and in transit.
Physical Damage — Comprehensive and collision coverage for your tow trucks. If your truck is damaged in an accident, this helps cover the cost of repairs.
Inland Marine — Covers non-stationary property such as the vehicles, equipment, boats, or other items you're towing. If something is damaged while in tow, this protects your business.
* Florida does not include wind or hail coverage for the owned buildings.
Why We Built It This Way
By insuring your whole operation instead of just one piece, we can give towing companies real peace of mind; knowing there's no gap in coverage anywhere in the business. It also lets us evaluate your operation as a whole, which helps us stay competitive in a tough insurance market.
Who This Package is Built For
Who We're Not a Fit For
A Note on Flexibility
While our program is designed to cover your full operation, we understand every business is different. If you don't own your building, there's no need to bundle property coverage for it. And if you'd rather not carry physical damage (comp and collision) on your vehicles, that's your call — it's not required.
